HCT intends to comply with a number of national, provincial and local legislative and governance requirements to ensure a mutually beneficial and sustainable approach to providing social housing.

MANDATE

HCT’s mandate can be summarized as follows:
• Develop, own and manage affordable rental housing opportunities close to employment nodes, transport nodes, social amenities and related public services for households
earning between R2 500 and R7 500(as revised by the national department of human settlements from time to time).
• Provide rental housing accommodation for people who do not qualify for subsidy and are unable to participate in the formal, non-subsidised housing market.
• Provide property management and turnaround services for low to medium density social or rental accommodation.
• Manage all CoT Council owned rental Stock.
• Manage and refurbish staff and public hostels.

HCT therefore interprets its mandate as follows:

Housing company Tshwane subscribes to the following social housing principals:
Sustainability – HCT strives to be efficient and cost effective in the delivery of services to its clients
Affordability – HCT must at all times ensure that all the rental tariffs of stock under its management’s remains available to the target market as identified.

How do I apply, and what do I need to apply?

You apply by completing a application form at the office what you need to bring is a copy of you ID, payslip and 3 months bank statements.

How long do I have to give notice when I want to terminate my lease agreement?

You are required to give 1 months calendar notice to terminate your Lease agreement.

Can I apply for RDP Housing with HCT?

No you need to go to the Department of Housing, City of Tshwane municipality.

How long will I have to wait once I have applied for accommodation?

As soon as accommodation is available you will be contacted by an HCT officer.

How will I know if I have or have not qualified for a flat?

As soon as you application has been processed you will be contacted and informed by a HCT official.

What is a social housing institution?

A social housing institution is any private or public organisation accredited by the Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) to carry out social housing functions.

How soon do I receive my deposit back after I terminate my Lease agreement with HCT?

You will receive your deposit 14 working days after the date you vacate the flat.

Do you have commercial property for leasing?

Yes we do, applications are also available at the HCT offices.

How much must I earn to qualify for a unit?

You should earn between R2500 and R7500 (as revised from time-to-time by the National Department of Human Settlements).

Is there security at buildings managed by HCT?

Yes there is 24 hour security that is stationed at all HCT managed buildings to ensure that only approved tenants have access to the building.

How long do I have to give notice when I want to terminate my lease agreement?

You are required to give 1 months calendar notice to terminate your Lease agreement.

What do I do in case of an emergency?

Inform the security Officer on duty of the emergency and follow their instructions or contact the police or fire department.

Can I apply for RDP Housing with HCT?

No you need to go to the Department of Housing, City of Tshwane municipality.

Is student accommodation available?

Not at the moment.

How long will I have to wait once I have applied for accommodation?

As soon as accommodation is available you will be contacted by an HCT officer.

Yes tenants may transfer from one unit to another if there are flats available to do so, However you will be required to pay a transfer fee.

Tenants are encouraged to pay their rent, However should a tenant fail to make the required payment HCT will issue letters of demand before their accounts are handed over to the attorneys for collection, should this happen then additional legal fees for collection will be charged on that account.

No. we only rent out flats in approved social housing projects.

When is the rent due by every month?

The rent is due by the 7th of every month.

Can I pay by debit order?

Yes, you can arrange this with your bank.
